On November 19, 2021, a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing was conducted between the Department of Science and Technology - CALABARZON (DOST-CALABARZON), headed by Regional Director Emelita P. Bagsit, and City Government of San Pedro, led by City Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz, concerning the installation of Universal Structural Health Evaluation and Recording (USHER) System in the City Hall of San Pedro.
The USHER system is an innovative tool that remotely monitors the structural health of bridges and buildings to determine whether structures are in need of repairs or upgrade to withstand natural disasters. This will provide advanced decision support tools to the local government units for structural health monitoring and management. Two units of the USHER system were already installed in the 1st and 3rd floor of the City Hall of San Pedro. Among the attendees of the MOA signing were CDRRMO OIC Vernet Nico Pavino, PAIO Head Jimbo Ambayec and staff from DOST-CALABARZON.
