City of San Pedro’s capacity to handle waste management got a boost from the National Government

The City of San Pedro’s capacity to handle waste management recently got a boost from the national government when it received from the Philippine International Trading Corporation, a waste management facility, consisting of a composter and a shredder that can recycle biodegradable waste into useful end products.

PITC president Usec Dave Almarinez turned over the facility to San Pedro City Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz and representatives of 5 other cities and 24 municipalities of Laguna, during fitting ceremonies held at the Convention Hall of Barangay Pacita, 26 February 2021.

The project is consonant with the mandate of the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) to aid local government units to effectively manage their waste and other refuse.

During the program former mayor, Calixto R. Cataquiz welcomed all the participants to the city, while Senator Cynthia A. Villar, Governor Ramil Hernandez, and Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz, in succession, gave their messages of support.
