Garden tools and equipment, inputs and seedlings, greenhouses and mushroom Houses from the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office IV-A, headed by Regional Executive Director Vilma A. Dimaculangan, were successfully turned over to the recipients from the City of San Pedro, Laguna. The Turn Over Ceremony was held last June 4, 2021 at the Ceremonial Hall and Nursery Area, San Pedro City Hall. During the said event, City Mayor Lourdes S. Cataquiz delivered a message reiterating the importance of Urban Agriculture and the sustainability of urban and backyard agriculture.
Recipients of the agricultural supplies are the (1) San Pedro Agri-Workers Network (SPAWN), (2) Pacita Organic Garden (3) Samahang Mangingisda ng San Roque and (4) Pacita Complex Homeowners Association (PCHAI) Phase 6. This is in line with the Urban Agriculture Program by the Department of Agriculture under Bayanihan Act II or RA no. 11494 which aims to establish a resilient food system, through Urban Farming, amid the COVID-19 Crisis.
Among the attendees of the ceremony were Councilor Aaron Cataquiz, Councilor Rafael Campos, Councilor Bobot Berroya, Councilor Kent Lagasca, Councilor Bernadeth Olivares, High Value Crops Development Program Coordinator Engr.
